When I was learning the youtubes to get into turkey hunting I started just bugling for awhile as a locater call because any loud noise worked and I wanted to stand out among the many many public land hooters. Then I tried to replicate a pileated woodpecker. I've done the truck alarm thing a few times. Now I usually just sit and wait. That seems to work the best.

I'm full circle I started out hunting turkeys like I do deer, and did ok. Then I tried being like them rebel boys with their running and gunning and fancy calls and none of that really worked for me, now I'm pretty much back to just sitting on my butt (Boyne Bowhunter edit) in a good spot.

Cool to see that in yourself. I like noticing how I’ve changed hunting and what not.

My biggest thing I’ve found against running and gunning is I’m not leaving birds to find others. One, I think birds come in slow and quiet way more than people think. Or a bird that wasn’t interested in you comes in later to check out the situation. I’ve just had more success hanging in there than running around like crazy. I also don’t enjoy driving around if I’m “hunting” I wanna be in the woods lol.

This will be my first one, been using the AT3 tactical ARO off of Amazon. They've been good for the last 4 years I've been using em. Had issues with one turning off on recoil but AT3 replaced it.

The AT3 and FF3 are on the same footprint.
My holo have never let me down may just stay with them on next project

My Turkey hunting experience is fairly limited. I hunted hard my first year about 3 years ago until I got one and didn’t hunt the past two years.

Only got to hunt one day this AL season but it was awesome. Saturday I walked into a long finger field on national forest and the grass was super high and really didn’t think they would be in the field so I worked my way 10-20 yards off the field to the end and plopped down off the field where the grass was lower. It was a foggy so i figured they might wait a bit to come down. I pushed up against a tree and took a nap. About 40 mins later I got awoken to the loudest drumming I’ve ever heard. I’ve heard of guys talk about this but it was unlike anything I have ever heard. It was like I could feel the vibrations, if that makes sense. IT GOT ME FIRED UP!

I propped my shotgun up and threw in my mouth call as a hen worked her way into the field. It was awesome to see her cluck and yelp. Then he hit that gobble and it shook me! He was off below me to my left side (off hand side) no more than 20 yards away but just out of sight. The hen left the field edge and took him with her. He was slow to leave as I would pure and cluck and he would respond. After about 30 mins he stopped responding and I went quite. I figured it was time to finish my nap.

About 30 minutes into my nap I hear a gobble, probably 150 yards away. I responded and he fired right back up. I talked and then would shut up, then talk and then shut up. He kept getting close and closer. This went on for like an hour and I really felt like I should have changed positions to draw him in more but never did it. I feel like he was right on the other side of the field edge and just would not cut across or even out to the open at all. About that time I heard some quick steps off to my left and it was coyote at about 10 yards. I turned quick and blasted it without much thought.

No turkeys were heard the rest of the day besides some hens. I’m so ready for next year. Hopefully things will line up to go more! What a blast.FB8E521A-0E63-4E1A-8497-A4845698F6BD.jpeg1EC5D9B9-8011-4D94-A312-E90B25AB2580.jpeg938AB1AB-C138-4A0F-B9FD-1B6579197538.jpeg

Very cool. I wish we could do that here but they actually have a season on them in NY. 10/1 to end of March.

Ok guys need a little help. I’m building a project turkey gun for next year for a trip to Missouri. I will be building on an O/U frame in 12ga. I’m wanting to stack indianCreeks in it and need someone to measure the outside diameter of the end of the choke. Checking for clearance. If any one can help me out I’d greatly appreciate it. Hoping they are less than 0.845”. Any larger and there is no clearance. I’m to ocd and 2 different tubes would drive me insane. Shouldn’t matter the gun it fits as long as it’s a black diamond tube in 12ga. Again any help appreciated.

Not sure I can help but what gun/make/model might help ya! Also I might be able to look on another forum and see if it’s already been done

I’ll try to get a measurement sometime today. Sounds like a fun gun to hunt with. I would love a 28 gauge auto loader with TSS. Maybe an O/U.
