Team 11 Thread

Sat the first couple hours this morning then got down and did some still hunting. Jumped 2 diff bucks and a few does but not shots not that it would of counted being on the ground although still had my saddle on hahaha

How far west you coming? Are you coming out to hunt?
Sorry haven't been on my phone much. Just seeing this. I'm in Friendsville. Right near wisp hunting at my buddy's cabin. 120 ac. Just shot a little 6 but I wasn't in a saddle. Sorry boys. Just wasn't the right hunt to use it. I injure deer with a rifle out of a saddle. Wasn't planning on shooting a little buck but these guys want the meat. And I'm not worried about eating my rifle tag on it. Check out that garage...bigger than my house

You’re in my neck of the woods. I grew up about halfway between Friendsville and McHenry and currently live near Grantsville. If I wasn’t laid up from knee surgery on Friday I’d offer to buy you a drink or lunch on your way home.

Came down with the fever bad so I’m headed to hunt. Will have to let work know I’m taking sick leave until this fever goes down. Going to be coming in little after daylight because I’m taking the boat but I plan to sit most if not all of the day. Hoping to see some rut action.

Finally made it to my spot around 7:30. It was very slow going due to the fog. Well I screwed up and left my saddle in my scouting pack/bag so no chance for some points. Sorry fellas. I’m still hoping to kill a deer. Beautiful high 30s day, clear blue sky, no wind. D88C4084-D00F-4E27-AEF3-0BC1F5A4ADBA.jpeg

Good luck and when you kill a monster I will forever rib you for being the reason we lost the contest. :)

I’ve never wished for a $3 Walmart fleece blanket more than right now. It’s gonna make me work for this sit. I may make a couple @davet fleece saddles to keep in the car and boat for any future forgotten saddle situations.

In yalls experience what is the time between a doe running off her yearlings and the rut typically? Trying to gage when stuff might start kicking off around here.

Looks like you toughing out discomfort got us 7 points. Congrats!

In my experience, it seems the bucks run off the kids when the doe starts to come into heat

@gcr0003 I’m not sure where you live but there should be a rut map of your area that is close. I’ve seen fawns and yearlings stay just far enough from the doe to not get caught up in all the chasing activity and be right back with mom in two to three days when the buck moves on. I’ve also seen several does that were completely alone other than the three or four bucks chasing it. I rent a property here that I’ve hunted for four years and never saw any rut activity until this year and there were chasing, and sparring, and all kind of vocals every time I hit the woods for a little over two weeks. One thing that’s been good for me with the advent of cell cams is keeping one on a well used scrape. When the rut kicks off good the deer visiting the scrape is greatly reduced. Then as the number of does in estrous decrease visits to the scrape will increase. YMMV. By the way love the 7600.
