Interesting that he went away from the perforated tube. I'm guessing these will be heavier than he originally reported.

Wonder what the step spacing is on those?

Thanks,
Boswell
24"

I went through the math before on these. I expect the weight will come up a couple ounces if goes away from a perforated tube. The stick should weigh close to what @bowhunter15 made last summer.

Dan's base stick, no strap is 1 lb 7 oz or 5.78 lbs per 4 sticks

With 5/16 Amsteel: 1 lb 8.3 oz per stick or 6.08 lbs per 4 sticks

With 5/16 Samson ultratech: 1 lb 11 oz per stick or 6.75 lbs per 4 sticks

With standard strap: 1 lb 14 oz per stick or 7.6 lbs per 4 sticks

His personal set may still be, but a production model, well you know how that goes.
It is. This pic is public domain. You can see the perforation.

Not sure about the rest of you but I would have opted for the other trunk (better back cover and far more vertical).
And a safety harness. lol

Honestly, the leaner is the kill tree here. Dan was the stander in a deer drive on public land here in WI. Shot was to the lean direction. No pruning allowed too.

Wow 24” spacing I’m not sure I could make it. I’m guessing he will shorten those up for production models.

Sorry. Stick is 24". Steps are probably closer to 22".

I don't think I could go much higher than 18" steps. I'm short. The Muddy Pro sticks with 4 step aiders work great for me. I'd love to get rid of the the folding double step though. @ImThere hopefully your custom setup works out.

I need to look at the helium sticks cut down to my height.

Helium owners - how do the weights of these new sticks compare to a cut down helium?

I expect short guys will feel discriminated against with these sticks.

The good news is these sticks introduce a new pool of hardware for DIY projects. I'm current using fixed muddy double steps on mine which are similar to those machined by @bowhunter15 . I like the look of his new steps.

The perforated sticks are about 10.7 oz lighter than a helium stick cut to the same length with similar spacing. I expect without the perforations they will be 8 oz lighter or a half pound.

1/2 pound per stick is significant. Thanks for that.

My cousin had Dan on his podcast not that long ago and they were talking about it (Deer Hunter Podcast on iTunes).

I believe the finished sticks are coming in at around 1.5lbs. So less than 10lbs for 4 sticks. Not bad!

A 24” stick, steps, tree brackets, rope for 1.5 lbs? My math don’t work?

That is bare stick, also perforated tube. See my breakdown in post above.
