Tree Styx

One of my other hobbies is ultralight backpacking. Dudes in that world don’t think twice about spending a few hundred to save 8 OUNCES.

Funny how it’s all relative.
I think it has a lot to do with perceived value too. For my 1/2 to 3/4 mile walks in to hunt, 8oz doesn't mean very much. If I was hiking 10-15 miles it suddenly becomes a bit more important to me.

Ultra long distance hikers have a wealth of knowledge that can transfer to anything that requires walking long distances. Hunting, Rucking, etc ... I'm a bit of a hobbiest myself. Big fan of Andrew Skurka. Learned a lot from him.

Skurka is awesome, but I’m not a big fan of Skurka beans.

Has anyone else received a reply back from this company? I've left a question on their site some time ago with no response.

I received a response to my question on Jan 18th.
I asked another question on the same day and I have not received a responce.

Only response I got was that they will be adding more information to their site shortly. That was on the 19th.

I think he may have his hands full. Trying to set up retailers. Getting the sticks manufactured. Getting TMA certified. And maybe he has another job.
I like a product that is new and different. I hope he does well.

Iowa Deer Classic coming up beginning of March. Be cool if he makes it there, I’d like to see them. I’m sure every whitetail state has shows like that though so it’s not probably an agenda item.

Does anyone know exactly how the string attaches to the stick prior to setting the stick? There’s nothing showing this anywhere.

I hope so too. He seems like a genuinely nice guy with a good product.

I’ve never brought anything to the consumer market but I would want to imagine I would have all that stuff finalized before I ever revealed it the world. I’m sure he is busy though especially if he has a 9-5 and kids.

Yet, established companies in this industry are frequently scrambling about the designs they tease.

I left the company a second message asking about how the stick attaches. They're making a video and will post it up hopefully soon. Honestly I don't know why they didn't have this already completed prior to marketing them at the ATA show.

Curious whether the versa/rope anchor is pinned or just chemically bonded like the steps appear to be.

Well some of those epoxies will literally chemically bond carbon fiber together. When you try to glue 2 dissimilar metals together like tethrd was trying to do. That raises eyebrows
Absolutely! But the fact that they said they have 2 mechanical bonds and a chemical bond for the step standoff makes me think they'll be cautious and use a screw or bolt in there....but I could definitely be wrong.
