Curious what are everyone’s favorite camo pattern(s) for rut timeframe and late season? I’m thinking in general when there is minimal to no foliage left on the trees and may or may not be some snow on the ground. This speaking strictly for whitetail.

Predator Brown Deception early rut and Predator Fall Gray later especially after full leaf drop then thru late season.

I agree with the above but I had great luck with Sitka elevated 2 this year. There is definitely science behind their pattern but it is expensive. I got mine on sale. Biggest issue is movement and even when they are not looking at you they can still spot you due to the position of their eyes. It is believed to be as much as 310 degrees!

I like asat or predator, or light covered solids. I try to stay away from anything real dark is all really.
I always got picked off in realtree and mossy oak. I then bought natural gear (no dark colors) and still got picked off. I then decided to look into different camo. It was between Sitka, predator, and first lite. I got a great deal on Sitka and hunted a tree i always got spotted in. It is on an edge of 2 older clear cuts with no cover at my stand height. I was never spotted this year. Could be saddle related or camo related but I'm not switching either one!

Yeah idk. I get camo to some degree and I like the looks of some of it. I don't put it up there quite on par with scent control and the tooth fairy but my experiences don't lie in telling me deer vison is almost incomprehensibly different than ours.

I think scent control is a bigger factor than a deers vision. I also think Sitka's camo is in some degree backed by science. I also think predator camo and asat are right up there near the top as far as patterns go. Earlier in the season I don't think camo is as much as a factor as it is late season when the leaves are off. Basically for me it begins mid October when camo plays a bigger factor. I've seen hunters in a lot of different patterns turn into a black blob in the tree and easily picked off by me. Asat and predator don't seem to do that... Not certain on Sitka's as I have not run into anyone where I hunt with it on.

Whatever is on sale.... (yes I have been in trees with duck hunting camo, I am pro leet!)

For me personally, I like realtree. It has a lot of tan and a fairly open pattern. It doesn't seem to "dark blob" as bad on other hunters at a distance. I have a lot of hunters walk right past my tree while I'm wearing it.

Of course, hunting 20+ feet helps with that too. I honestly think height, being still, and not over hunting a tree do more to make you invisible than camo.

Deer can't see what they're not looking for. Don't give them a reason to look for you and you're golden.

I dunno if I buy into all the camo hype, our forefathers hunted in jeans and flannels and were just as successful, but I still buy some anyway. Can't hurt (except my wallet). Scent and movement are key. Anyway, I like natural gear. Here in northern Virginia the oaks and hickory get that brownish/gray color and it blends real well, even better if you're on the ground. I used to get picked in realtree but not in natural gear. Hunted the same stands, had mature does very close several times. One I've nicknamed the hag used to blow at me quite often, not this year. My hunting partner told me fifty yards away he couldn't even tell I was in the tree. So take that for what it's worth.

It helps you hide from PEOPLE for sure.

A couple of years ago, I was ground hunting and had a big buck 10 yards away from me.
I was wearing shadow plaid and a face cover.
I was downwind.
He stared at me and then would go back to eating.

Sadly, he was on my right.
I knew I couldn't turn to shoot so just enjoyed his company for a while....a good 15 minutes.
Seemed like an hour

I’m all over the place, I have Sitka elevated 2 for early season. Just the pants and long sleeve shirt. I have brown deception for mid season and asat for late season. Not sure how the deer see it but I think the more open patterns are best. I’ve also been using first lite leafy top and head cover , I had a doe walk within 5yrds of me on the ground. I’ll be wearing it during turkey season as well. Two weeks!

I was thinking I had all this golden colored climbing equipment and it must stick out like a sore thumb. Now not so much. :grinning:

Where I hunt bottomlamds blends really well early to mid season. Mid season to late season predator works well. All that being said I have killed deer wearing all green just the same. Not moving is your best camo
