Well running out of time today I got done with work around noon to go sit a spot near the house in VT. This spot I keep a camera at and had 6 bucks all 1.5 year olds on camera there this year. 4 spikes, one 4 pointer, and a small 6. I got to the spot at around 1 and around 3 this spike sneaks in behind me and I decide he's probably my last chance at having some deer meat for myself after I give some to all the relatives to old to hunt themselves or hunt hard enough to get one often. Good thing it's cold enough to hang them because I almost forgot to take the saddle picture again like I did with a doe 22339BEC-BA35-4961-8B5D-740446B6CCE3.png117FD591-6399-4287-91AB-F6FC78BA2ABB.jpeg.

Congrats. Getting it done.
I wasn't seeing much up on the flats or table top anymore and the corn was finally harvested. I asked myself last night, where would I be now if I were a buck?, I went in extra early and hiked down into the gorge where an old trolly bed goes through. There's a land bridge between a deep channel that forces movement between a perpendicular ridge spine that runs north south off of the main ridge which runs east west. There is also a sidehill to my right which gets deer out of the wind from an E or SE wind and another side hill to my 10 o'clock which the deer travel through and is littered with old blow downs and oaks. This buck was "sidehilling it" to my left but heading down I believe to his his bedding area for the day. I never saw him until I heard a loud crack where he broke a stick. I shot him at 25 yards with my .243, jumped the trolley bed and went up on a higher bank where I was set up and I thought he was going to go all the way down to the bottom but after he cleared the 10-12ft. bank he collapsed in a pile.

Sorry to report my season ended empty handed. Tues was closing day of the season in NH. Even with 3-4 sits a week, couldn't make it happen. Congrats on all the nice deer taken by the team over the season.

I wish I was a headlight on a north-bound train

I don’t know what happened this morning. I hunted my property at home and idk if it was the tree I climbed or something on my gloves but I could not stop sneezing! It was awful. Beautiful fresh snow this morning though...

I sat with my son in his box blind this morning. Ad a doe and button buck come in at first light. They left and five full grown doe came in about 8:45. Haven’t seen that many before without fawns even this late in the season. We have Christmas lunch with my dad today so the plan was to leave at nine. They got down wind and got nervous. He made good use of what is becoming increasingly scarce 300 blackout ammo.

Where the skys are so blue!
That only if @Nutterbuster hasn’t killed them all. There’s like 65 points worth of doe score still available. Y’all go wac them.
Nutterbuster ain't picked up a rifle or bow since before thanksgiving. Figured with 11 deer in the bag I'd let them recuperate for the rut. Been smacking wood ducks in the mouth about every day. I think I've missed 4 mornings of the season. Not sure. Time is meaningless and everything is running together. Too many 3am alarms

My season is over too. Had a lot of fun and a ton of learning experiences / close calls ( one with the biggest buck I’ve ever seen in the woods) but definitely not the same results as last year when I got 3 8 pointers. Next year I’ll be living in a area with less of a commute to good hunting. Wisconsin and a fairly short drive to Illinois.
