FYI: Wood Hunting Saddles Closing Up Shop

Doesn't mean someone ought to swip your deer man!

Hope your having a good trip anyway!
It’s been nice. I’m not used to weather in the upper 30’s and low 40’s and highs of 66, not sweating to death on the walk in has been amazing. It is definitely something I miss doing (getting out and hunting)…

I actually shot one first sit last night but I couldn’t track it down. Went back to the spot this morning to find the buck and about 70 yards from where I shot him, I found this… guess someone came across him last night or this morning before I got back out to find em
That sucks man! Couldn't have been too bad of shot though if it only went 70yds.

If you are primarily a leaner like I am, it's the cats meow.

When I purchased mine, Robert was kind enough to send an Original Wood Hunting Saddle and a custom saddle made for leaning, based on conversations about how I hunt. The custom saddle was sweet for leaning, but ultimately I selected the Original because it was also pretty darn nice for a sitter too. I found myself sitting in the saddle more with the .5 than I anticipated because of it.

My head-to-head was a Classic II, and Robert's won by an obvious margin, for me.

But, I know what Robert is inferring, about his Deluxe. He named it "Deluxe" for a reason. I'd have gone that route were it not for my satisfaction with the AH Flex. And I've many times pondered a Deluxe, because I hate Broadside Camo until it snows.

You all are awesome, but I’m afraid some of you are gonna be disappointed with the original. It’s extremely minimalist by comparison. I’m in Sturgis Ky this week trying to actually shoot a deer. I’ll be back Sunday so I apologize if you guys get stuck waiting a few extra days. @redsquirrel congrats on that 10 pointer. I’ll be renewing my membership this coming weekend as well. Miss shooting the breeze with you guys and I hope everyone is having an excellent season
I’m not in a hurry for mine, don’t change a second of your personal plans or rush to get it out for any reason. Shoot deer. Hang out with family. Do….whatever it is you do when you aren’t devoting 24/7/365 to a business thing.

It’s weird when I used to shoot mechanicals, they would run like all get out especially if the shot was a little high or further back. These grizzly stik samarai I’ve been shooting seems to hit them and they have an initial reaction run 20 or 30 yards then stop to check around. Blowing ect… and crash. I just don’t get much of a blood trail. This buck on Monday I felt like it was a gut shot. He didn’t run far and was blowing like crazy but the wind was in my favor. I heard him crash but with no blood I wasn’t able to locate him that night.
My buddy that’s hunting with me, shot a large doe last night at 50 yards (cross bow) it ran about 126 yards but he had a mechanical and we had a pretty good blood trail. We found her about an hour after he initially shot her and the coyotes had already got on her stomach and ripped her guts out and were eating them. The coyotes here are the biggest I’ve ever seen. But seeing them eat the guts and organs within an hour of the shot was pretty wild. We were able to salvage most of the meat from the doe which was good

I went to GrizzlyStik Samurai's last year, I have yet to shoot anything with them so this is good info for me. Thanks for the feedback.

I’ve really liked them but I’ve only shot about 9 hog and a few deer since making the switch. This deer was the first animal I was unable to recover. I’ll be interested in hearing how you like them

Wait a second. So @John RB is affiliated with RockNArbor and is repping an Ape Canyon Made CGM Sidewinder saddle. Ape Canyon and RockNArbor have teamed up with @Fl Canopy Stalker and Wood Saddles to continue make Wood Saddles. Does this mean that @Fl Canopy Stalker @John RB and @always89y are now all on the same team? Ape Canyon is really out here bringing everyone together in the name of saddlehuntting.

I mean, @Fl Canopy Stalker has has always admired Aerohunter saddles and is a big safety guy. Guess who is also a big safety guy and loves Aero hunter and has been rocking a Aerohunter flex for years? @John RB. Many say the Wood Saddle Deluxe is very similar to AH flex. I guess we will be seeing a review on the Deluxe from @John RB in the very near future.

NEVER THOUGHT ID SEE THE DAY :tearsofjoy:

I saw the announcement about RnA and Wood saddles. The rest of this info I was unaware of. I like to think we're all a team regardless. There are plenty of people out there who draw lines and create division that doesn't help anyone. I am not one of em. Cheers.

All of that was meant playfully, less it be misconstrued. I think what makes these guys so great is that despite starting or being a part of saddle companies they have stayed close to this online community, sharing ideas, teaching safety, and being a part of the dialogue.

This is the best news I’ve heard since Debbie from AeroHunter called me in 2019 and said your custom Kestrel is ready to ship.

I think it's clear you are trying to create division among us personally, tearing us down comment by comment
