I've been messing with wiring here lately....I've been having a rough time diagnosing the winch. I have it wired and if I bypass the solenoids I can get it to spool in and out. Ohm the controller and it's functioning so that leaves the solenoids. They are brand new but cheapo china junk so I guess I learned my lesson there.....the 4 solenoid system is discontinued by warn and the new replacement solenoid they offer is over 200 bucks.....so after some searching I found some direct replacement, made in USA, solenoids and while looking for them found brand new replacement motor....so for 200 I'd get a new solenoid and 40 year old motor or 50 bucks more new motor and usa made direct replacement noids.....that all arrives next couple days.
I've got a box of old heavy gauge wires of various lengths and sizes from past 4x4 projects...I dug it out and found some stuff to replace/upgrade the battery cables. The positive was easy enough but I still need to make up a new ground wire...it's got a funny lead junction that bolts to the engine cross member...the cable goes from the battery terminal to the frame into the lead junction and a second wire goes from the lead block to the bell housing. I got plenty of welding wire but need to buy a couple lugs before I can make the new ground wires
