Stepp Ladder reviews...

They are like 2 miles from the samson factory.

ha, I live 2 miles from the other Samson factory but unfortunately this is their large rope division (3/4"+) here so nothing made here is of value to us :confused2:.

We will be at the Harrisburg show from February 4-12 and I will have the AIDER there as well as the new linesmen belts/ bridge, bow hanger and fall restraint system. Come check us out!

Are they on your web site now?

I'm probably not going to be able to go to the show, but there is still a chance I will. If I do I will make sure to stop by. Are you going to be putting any videos or more info up on the website?

They posted a quick clip of their new aiders on their social media pages. I can't seem to find it on youtube yet but I am sure it will be up soon. Check out their Facebook or Instagram profiles and you'll find it. It doesn't contain a lot of info but they do look to have some promise. 8 steps=30 feet.

That's a good idea. It looks like an adjustable one step aider that just hooks on. I would like a longer video showing a little more detail. Of course then there would be a thread on how to make your own before it even hits the market. It may make the stepp ladder a more viable option for me. I don't need to get 30' up but if I can get 20 out of six steps it would be appealing.

I hate to admit, it, but I am totally trying to think of a way to make one at home to try out. When I tried to do this at home in the past, i didn't use a second stepp, and I always got to a place where I got stuck. and I had to have a different aider for every step. I like this method more.

It looks like the aider is attached with a captive eye biner. the adjustment looks to be a whoopie style adjustment of some sort? I have never seen that type of adjustment on tubular webbing before. Perhaps you could do something similar with Amsteel?

One trick will be to keep the biner quiet with a metal on metal contact. Perhaps you put a small runner in a girth hitch on each step and leave it there to provide a place to attach the biner? Or use a coated biner?

Also, how do they keep the foot loop open at the bottom?

This is fun. I love tinkering like this

I totally want to buy some materials and play.

Very slick, he is only using one aider and transferring it to the next step as he goes. As long as you dont drop it and or carry a back up, your all set. Im curious if this is hooking up similar to how the guy on AT did his aiders? I forget his name, but he about died. Definitely changes the way I look at stepps.

I forget his name, but I read the same thread and although I didn't have the same trouble as he did, I had troubles. He is the one who turned me on to using aiders with my muddy sticks

I think he made the same mistake I did by not having the step in the middle to stand on while you move the aider. If you put a step on and hang an aider, You will have a very hard time climbing to the top of the aider and getting on the step. Mainly because you won't have anything to hold on to but the trunk once you start going up. By having two steps and hanging the aider below the lower step, you can hang on to the upper step and climb onto the lower. It's a pretty good idea. I am going to have to try it out.

Name is broken limb or something like that. He tied aider to stepps and fell. Unlike sticks the stepp will fall to ground if it side loads and slips.
This new aider seems to attach via hooking to cross bar, so as long as it stays centered it shouldn't be a problem. This topic has come up on here b4.

Yep brokenlimbs, he's a gw user. I just invited him to join us and also tell his story.

here is the reply i got from him....

Hi Ernie;

Here's the link to that thread. The problem I had is on the first page. http://www.archerytalk.com/vb/showthread.php?t=2102067

As for the issue, here's what happened in detail that almost resulted in serious injury.....

WARNING TO ALL (re. holding tree when you climb) This didn't happen the first, second, third or fourth time... Maybe the 10'th time? And FWIW, this was my second climb up this particular tree 4 or 5 years back..... Anyways: If your first boot on step slips (even with a linesman belt) aiders can "turn into pendulums." Misjudge a tree and/or just have a toe slip and your SAFETY IS COMPROMISED!!! After 15 years, I got out of what could have become a LIFE THREATENING SITUATION. Bottom boot (toe on tree) slipped sideways and the next thing I found myself inverted in tree with left foot caught in an aider on the right side of tree. (IF/WHEN BOOT SLIPS AND YOUR GRIP ON TREE IS NEVER GOING TO KEEP YOU FROM SLIDING DOWN!!!!) I was left upside down "bear hugging the tree" and restricted with linesman belt. HAPPENS IN MILLISECONDS WITH NO PRIOR WARNING. I was hanging (INVERTED) from my boot, stuck in aider at 20 feet! Had the strength (I'm a seasonal runner & am in pretty good shape for my age) to luckily free foot out of aider and flip back around but the whole process scared the daylights out of me. Found out the only way to climb with an aider and sticks is to have a good grip that can't slide down tree. And that means using a different brand of stick with hand holds (steps) on both sides. I WAS LUCKY!!! ~ BE SAFE!!!

I think the stepp with the aider being attached to the one above where you are climbing to will give plenty to hold onto.

I also wonder about the descent. Wouldn't you be feeding the aider back down through the step your standing on. I'm still interested in the concept. I don't think I would get 30 foot out of 8 steps maybe 25. Plenty high enough for me.
