Hi all,

I am running the Predator XL and pack it in/out with my Eberlestock X2 pack. Since the edges are pretty sharp on the XL, I was thinking about protecting my pack some from the sharp edges to avoid rips/tears... Anyone have something they use to protect their pack? Not the predator pack :) looking for something more DIY/custom... plus the predator pack is standard size only...

Thanks!

Probably you can find a drawstring bag that will work.

Sewing a fleece sleeve wouldn't be expensive or difficult. And light. Or mesh.

eastern woods outdoors sells fleece pouches you might be able to get a custom size one if they don't have one for the predator XL already. I do know the XL pack will be released sometime this fall just not exactly sure when.

Paracord wrap?

I didn't think that'd mitigate all those teeth around the Predator XL, but found some pics and it does.

Just add foam or a cap over the offset bracket if dropping it in the backpack, but I suspect OP is rigging it on the exterior X2 pouch, in which case, yeah, paracord wrap is pretty easy.

Cheapest options would be paracord wrap, filing the edges, and/or wrapping it in an old towel. You could also put a large shower cap or elastic shoe covers that painters and surgeons wear on each side.

How about some sandpaper... Took me 30 minutes to get mine straight razor shave smooth

Wrap in a cheap mid or base layer top, double duty.

Go buy a fleece sweater/jacket from goodwill, cut out what you need and hand sew it. Cost you $5 max + needle and thread if you don't have it. It won't be pretty but it will do the job.
