I’ve used the Platform steps for most of this past season; a few times as ROS but mostly with an EWO angled stick platform.
I use 4 which is great for volleyball to basketball size trees.,larger trees you would benefit from 5 - 6 or u put two pioneer steps on for better packability to use on the back side , I don’t find I use the back side often.
Smaller trees can feel crowded.
I’ve used the treehopper steps / pioneer as comparison.
Suggest you watch the bullman guys’ YouTube “shorts”.
He uses a ratchet as it gets them solid with no movement.
I use a OCB to secure . The platform steps require you to step on each step close to the tree its push them into place, so they don’t slide when leaning.
Tree hopper / squirrel type steps hang below the strap and seem to lock the OCB tension by design .
for transport: slide to hook as mentioned above. A loop of shock cord can keep them all together . CGM has a clever strap that they sell.
I take the Bullman ROS to the archery range or backyard often to practice a few shots from just above the ground. It has helped my recurve form from height and from platform.
Also they work great with a JX3 if you’re into that sort of thing.
