What did you do today that’s related to saddle hunting?

They list our sandy soil conditions as a large part of the reason. It makes for poor nutrients in the plants and trees. Another bigger problem is the competition for food down here. Hogs eat and use the same habitats as deer and hogs are more aggressive and thrive off of the plant life due to sheer consumption. On top of that, they are known to kill fawn. Then add in our other large predators for deer… Bob cat, panthers, gators, bears, many snakes including 12’ plus python. A very healthy hunting population. Deer down here face a lot of trouble growing to maturity

I forget about the pythons and panthers down there. I can't imagine hunting where there's a risk of a snake big enough to give me a death hug lurking around.

Nor can I imagine hunting while I'm being hunted by a big cat! Gators don't scare me. Big cats? To heck with that noise.

Oh, and, go gators! Lol

I just got through putting 125 grain steel inserts into three 155 grain Grizzly single bevel broadheads that arrived in the mail this morning. Total weight is right at 280 grains. They are hot melt glued and spin tested. Now all I need to do is sharpen them. I can tell these grizzlies want to eat!

You need a bigger bench not a small box. Come on man!! :tonguewink:

I've actually been eying up one of those adjustable height husky deals from Home Depot. But this bench from harbor freight was on sale and I had a coupon. So it will work for now. I took my vise off the corner and moved it over to the miter saw stand my bow press is mounted to. That freed up a tiny bit of space.

Had to go out and change some camera batteries and scouted an area that I’ve been looking at on a map that’s isolated and hard to get to. Found some good sign and a really big track. I also found a climber on a tree that has had to been there for 10 years.

Scouted new to me. Good trails, a few beds but I know where more beds are nearby. Trying to figure them out from there. It's hot and the bugs where bad. Glad I live in the North lol

Looks like an API Bowhunter climber. Different seat though....It's aluminum, and looks like it would only need the soft parts, and chains ?

If I were going to rescue it and use it, I would replace the cables before anything else. I had a friend who almost fell because the cable on his brother's Summit snapped while he was climbing a tree. His brother left the climber out 24/7/365 and the cable had rusted through. A set of new cables is cheap insurance.

That’s what it is. I went ahead and got it off the tree and took it with me. The frame is still is good shape. If I can find some chains that’ll fit it and a new seat, it’ll be a good stand again. I’ll probably put a hazmore seat on it. Somebody just abandoned it a long long time ago for some reason. I think I read where the new API chains from Bass Pro won’t fit the older models.
