Since I haven't posted in here before I should probably start with my goals:
- Get stronger
- Manage ADHD
- Improve quality of life
- Do hard stuff
I've been running the Simple & Sinister kettlebell program 5-6 days a week since September and just hit the point where I'm ready to start working the 32kg bell into the rotation. I started with 16kg, moved to 24, so it feels good to be able to do double the weight I was doing in September. I weigh the same as I did in September but I'm down a little over 4% bodyfat. I like the program a lot because there are only 2 main movements (plus 3 others in the warmup and a couple stretches after) but it works my whole body and I don't have to remember how to do a bunch of different exercises, just how to do a few exercises really well.
I'd been meaning to add some cardio to the mix because the doc that's been working with me to manage ADHD recommended it, and today I did 2 miles in about 30 minutes with about 40lbs on my back, which I plan to do at least 2 times a week going forward along with the KB stuff. It works out well to take my pack to work with me and do it at lunch time. Right now my legs seem to be the limiter. Muscles started complaining just about right away. My heartrate was around 168 but I was nose breathing the whole time and didn't find that to be a struggle. I may add 10 more lbs but don't plan to carry anything really heavy unless I actually kill something I need to pack out.
The body fat thing and the weight progression are cool, but honestly the thing I'm happiest about is just the consistency over the past 6 months or so, something I always found really hard with exercise or really anything else.
