Private pre sets option ideas. Looking for ideas or suggestions.

Facebook marketplace around here this time of year is full of stands and sticksA set of slicks like tailgunner shows are about $25 or cheaper. You can both climb the same sticks to hunt together, so just pick your 'platform' based on the tree its in. Ladder stands aren't much more money and...

    2024 fishing thread

Foam grasshoppers are great, however they have their time. Later in the season when the yound of the year grasshoppers are bigger and stupid they work great, especially if you have a stream that goes through fields or grasslands. They are good for bigger water as a dry and dropper setup since...

    Kayak Landing Gear

looks good. A handyman's Boondox set. Even with the backer plates keep an eye on the four screws. It looks like a light boat to start with so that shouldn't be a problem, but if you load it with your gear and a deer then you're going to be pushing how much that rotomold plastic can take...

    Miniature deer

None of the above. I used to live in the UK where we had all three of those species. The head on picture does give the impression of a CWD, but when you look at the other pictures it doesn't anymore. I think that's an illusion of the facial fur and the angle of the picture. Roe are a very...

mariner Sails. 4-rod horizontal rod holder (track mounted). About $40. Yakgadget has a similar and maybe better one in the Flexrod Stager system. They only offered the 2-rod plus paddle option when I was rigging mine 3 years ago. Now they have a 4-rod version for $50 that looks more...

    2024 fishing thread

I made it out one evening last week. Mostly a shakedown run but this is the time of year that the bass start to get hungry. I’ve never caught bass in February before (it’s usually ice) but I can’t say that now. Managed two small ones and two pickerel. Not bad for February in NJ.

A happy start to 2024…. Puppies

well those guys are adorable. I've never known hounds very much. My dad/grandma/great grandmother ran beagles and my great grandmother started the beagle club where I grew up way back in the early 1900's. We hunted over one or two when I was young and I love it, but small game hunting fell by...

    Need a vanes reccomendation

I have some 2” feathers here that I hunted the year before last. Shooting them side by side with blazers and aae plastifletches, the feathers have that distinct whoosh as they fly. Blazers are pretty loud too. AAE and tac drivers are both quieter.

    Attachment rope management

I had a spare rope loop so I added a quick hitch with it onto the end of the rope. That adds a little weight for throwing it around the tree and then when I wrap it up I slip the hitch over a standoff and pull tight (after wrapping around the standoffs a couple times). That way I'm not...

    Need a vanes reccomendation

yes, and slow them down. However you can get significant stabilization from feathers with a big helical. Ages ago we shot big feathers, first on lincoln log aluminums and later on beman hunters. Even on a poorly tuned bow with finger releases and lots of shelf contact, a 5" feather with a...

Does anyone one stick from a preset?

I'll concur from a 2TC perspective. I've tried it twice and no bueno. I hunted an evening and left my rappel rope and platform in the tree. Next day I thought I'd just foot tether up and take up slack with my rappel rope like a long top tether. Even with a good top hitch (longhorn agile)...

    Ideas for a gear hanger?

John, Apologies if I missed it in the video, but what set of rope/caribeaners are those in the all utility LB? I don't normally carry a LB when I 2TC but I do carry a second top tether (and climb on a rappel rope). Also, I've always used a tetherd SYS hauler for my gear. I could consolidate...

What treestand is this and is it worth fixing

I have basically that same standing hanging in a tree right now. I'll take a different opinion to others. Assuming the rivets are in good shape and the base of the stand is sound, I would use it. The cables look fine and aluminum doesn't rust. However, I wouldn't use it as a treestand. I'd...

Shifting from Ropeman 1 to hitch on 11mm tether.....suggestions that have been field tested

I have rope man 1s on my big tether and linesman’s belt. It’s not the lightest rig in 11 or 13mm (whatever the bigger tethrd is) but it’s comfortable to use and works just fine. If I’m hunting off sticks I’ll use them since I’m not carrying things far. It packs into the tethrd sys hauler with...
