The coyotes are pretty bad by me, but as typical they run in yearly cycles and weekly circuits. I've had multiple encounters screwed up by coyotes AND bears. In 2019 I had coyotes chase a doe within seconds of a vital hit, and they were on her and had ruined a bunch of meat in the 20 minutes it took to get down/situated and track/find her... I also had a 185lb-ish "dressed" buck eaten down to where I could pick the whole carcass remainder with one hand. I don't wait overnight anymore, I'll go back out at 1 or 2am if that's the amount of time I think I should wait... The 2019 buck I completely lost blood, didn't come up with anything on a grid search, and had to wait for a dog tracker the next morning.
